ABOUT US

DW Music Tuition offers instrumental lessons to all ages and all abilities. We pride ourselves on having enthusiastic and vibrant teachers who spark the creativity in all students. 

 

DW Music offer a range of instruments listed below with a focus on student engagement and sharing the knowledge and experience they need to reach their individual goals.

Public lessons are run out of Derinya Primary School (on Overport Rd, Frankston South) each afternoon for students of and all ages from Primary School age, Secondary School students and adults.

 

DW Music also provides private ‘school based’ classes run during class time and an alternative or to work alongside an existing music program.

 

Currently these programs are running at Frankston Heights Primary, Kingsley Park Primary, Cheltenham Primary and Upper Beaconsfield Primary.

The goal of the music school is to see all students enjoy learning an instrument and then take that knowledge into their own lives and fulfilling their goals. Be it playing a favorite songs, writing a hit single or acing an exam DW Music tuition can help you get there.

 
 

THE 

LESSONS

DW Music offers lessons on a range of intruments. Whether you are after the greatest rock riffs of all time, the latest Top 40 hit single, thoery or preparing for exams we have the classes and teachers to help you reach your goals. Lessons are available on a range of genres including Rock, Blues ,Pop, Jazz, Country, Latin, Funk and Classical.

 

Equipment such as keyboards, guitars, drums PA systems and microphones available for use during lessons but students are more than welcome to bring in their own instruments along. Modern technology and IT are used such as smart boards and audio recording is available to give students real time feedback on their performances.

 

We focus on tailoring lessons to each student. Whatever age whatever skill level. Be it a beginner learning simple chords and read TAB or intermediate to advanced preparing for VCE exams or auditions.  We have teachers who specialise in helping students in Solo Performance, Group Performance or Music Investigation navigating their way through the syllabus as well as the technical and theoretical components of the course. AMEB exam preparation can also be arranged upon request.

 

Ultimately the focus of the lessons is learning music in a fun and engaging way where students play music they enjoy and want to practice at home.

The school is run by Daniel Wormell a professional guitarist and educator. Completing a Bachelor of Music and Graduate Diploma of Education (Secondary) at Monash University, Daniel has used these skills to gain industry experience both as a performer and teacher.

 

All teachers are experienced and active musicians who hold WCCC (Working with Children Check) or VIT (Victorian Institute of Teaching) accreditation. 

Daniel has studied with the likes of Steve Magnusson, Doug de Vries, Rob Burke, Eugene Ball, Ren Walters and Gil Askey. Specialising and performing Rock, Pop, Jazz, Acoustic, Country, Funk, Blues styles.

 

Daniel has released two original CDs with his latest ‘Fault Lines’ featuring some of Melbourne finest musicians and showcasing his country/rock/pop sensibilities. Daniel is also involved with some of Melbourne leading corporate and wedding acts including The Detours, The Frontier and The Review performing regularly at major events and some of Melbourne biggest venues. He has supported and played along side names names such as Delta Goodrem, James Morrison, Christine Anu, Jessica Malbouy, Stingray and Dr Carl from Neighbours. Corporate performances have included the Grand Prix. Victorian Racing Club, ABC TV, The Australian Open, Victorian Workplace Authority, Schweppes, Melbourne Racing Club, Melbourne Aquarium, Henley Properties and the Marriott Hotel.

 

His career has included performances at Melbourne finest venues including Crown Palladium, MCG, Etihad Stadium, Eureka Towers, Prince of Wales Bandroom, Stones of the Yarra Valley, Zonzo Estate, Princes Theatre Carousel, Bennetts Lane, Paris Cat, The Evelyn as well as a European tour in 2015.

As a teacher he conducts lessons and classroom music programs at a Cornish College as well as his work for DW Music Tuition giving him a great insight into how instrumental lesson can benefit and enrich regular classroom music programs. This knowledge and experience is also invaluable when teaching students during the VCE years.

 

 

 

MAKING LEARNING FUN

The lessons run out of Derinya Primary School (on Overport Rd, Frankston South) each afternoon are are open to members of the public and all ages from Primary School age, Secondary School students and mature age students. DW Music can also provide ‘in school’ classes for schools during class time and an alternative to a classroom music program or to work along aside an existing program. Currently programs are running at Frankston Heights Primary, Kingsley Park Primary and Upper Beaconsfield Primary.
